Beginner's Guide to SOLIDWORKS 2019- Level I
The detail drawing environment in SOLIDWORKS is a true What-You-See-
Is-What-You-Get interface. When we make a new drawing, we are asked to select
a template with a predefined sheet size, which corresponds to the printed sheet
size, or define the size of the drawing sheet we want to use. Do not be too
concerned about selecting the correct sheet size at first; it can be changed to a
larger or smaller size at any time during the detailing process if we find out our
drawing would fit better on a different sheet size. Also, any drawing sheet or
drawing view can be scaled up or down to fit the page and/or printer size.
Just like part templates can be made using different units, materials,
standards and settings to fit our needs, the same can be done with drawing
templates. In this section we'll start by using the default document templates and
later, after we learn more about the different options and settings available for
detail drawings, we'll learn how to customize drawing templates.
Now, let's create manufacturing detail drawings for the parts previously
designed.
