108 CHAPTER 5 CHRONIC TTH ANALYSIS BY EMG AND GSR BIOFEEDBACK
FIG. 5.7, Cont’d
(F) The biofeedback experiment on different subjects.
EMGa versus GSRa: Trend/pattern analysis of groups undergoing EMGa and GSRa therapies
over the experiment period of 12months on the subjects for chronic TTH Type headache for frequency,
intensity and duration parameters.
5.8.1 THE TREND OF AVERAGE OF FREQUENCY
GSRa: The improvement in reduction of TTH occurrence frequency was not at a constant rate. The rate
of improvement varied for different periods, which shows that there is some noise (may be that the
motivation level of the subject was down or the feedback therapy process efficiency was reduced)
in the system or the respective technique/therapy followed did not improve the TTH continuously.
Moreover, when we look into the deeper analysis, it showed that, for 3–6months, the average fre-
quency increased from 3.43 to 3.5/week, which may result in disinterest of the subjects and/or distrust
for the techniques/therapies resulting in subject dropout(s).
During the experiment period, the frequency reduced from an average of 5.423 to 2.714/week
(2.709/week reduced).
EMGa: The rate of reduction in frequency was continuous throughout the period. With the increase
in period of treatment, the reduction rate of frequency also increased, which assisted in building trust
and interest of the patients in the technique/therapy, thereby motivating the patients. The average
reduction in frequency was observed as 4.161/week, which was almost double that of the GSRa.
Hence, we can conclude that the average overall reduction of EMGa was far better than that of
GSRa resulting in better motivation, trust, and interest toward the EMGa technique/therapy with slight
fewer subject dropout(s).
Also, on analysis, one can add one more numerical value to this graph, showing the rate of improve-
ment such as release of information (RoI) is 12unit/month. This can be easily done by calculating the
