The simplified model of a MNP with a polymer core for drug delivery is depicted
in Fig. 7.3. As shown, the core of the carrier is made up of polymer materials that are
placed inside the magnetic nanocarrier.
Sun et al. [7] and Chomoucka et al. [8] explained in detail the data related to
nanocarriers type and their coatings.
Nanoparticles carriers for drug delivery and hyperthermia application must obtain
the following characteristics [9]:
Nontoxic characteristic: The nanocarriers based on iron oxide are less toxic than
nickel and cobalt nanocarriers. The toxicity may occur after injection of more than
250 mg of iron per kilogram of the mouse body [5].
Proper dimension characteristic: The nanocarriers size, as their name implies,
must be small enough for easy penetration into the cancerous tumors. They should
also be large enough to overcome the surface forces that are caused by the blood flow.
Otherwise these forces dominate the flow and prevent the focused delivery of the
