Chapter Summary
The most important part of any business plan is the executive summary.
Although you should write the final version that is included in the busi-
ness plan after all the other sections are completed, drafting an extended
version prior to digging into the other sections can help you clarify your
vision. You can share this early draft with fellow team members to ensure
that you are all on the same page. The final version of the executive sum-
mary is the most important part of the plan. It not only acts as a hook
to entice investors and other stakeholders to take a closer look, it is your
concise articulation of the opportunity. We find that entrepreneurs who
can clearly articulate their opportunity are more successful in convincing
others to join or invest. The remaining chapters examine in detail the dif-
ferent sections of the plan.
