You Listen More Than You Talk
■ Think, prioritize, and chose before you speak and then only sparingly.
■ Ask lots of questions.
■ Tell stories.
■ Use humor and be human.
■ Be consistent.
THE MOST POWERFUL AND LONG-LASTING COMMUNICATION is
disseminated by the smallest detail. You can talk, but a lot more is
expressed by what goes unspoken. Unfortunately, most of us “say” things
we haven’t even thought of.
The biggest problem with communication is the assumption
that it has occurred like you think it has. Be able to constantly, effectively
communicate up and down with people who answer to you and with
those who don’t. You’ll build strong collaboration in your group, and that
makes your group stand out among others. You’ll have less divisiveness
and strife.
