In a two million dollar project, $800,000 of it is caused by poor
               communication.

               You can never not communicate.

What Does Being a Good Communicator Mean?
           What Does It Look Like?

If you choose to do this (because it is your choice), you

             ■ Are aware of what you’re saying (and saying about yourself) when
you are or are not talking.
             ■ Make people from the top to the bottom feel a part of the
               dialogue.
             ■ Exchange information by voice instead of writing and by
telephone instead of by letter or e-mail, to one instead of
               many—whenever possible.
             ■ Use lots of media equally, comfortably, and effectively so that
you can influence a large number of people at the same time
(still, you know that there is no substitute for personal contact).
             ■ Are always accessible and ready to listen; you give an audience
and absorb more than you speak.
             ■ Never raise your voice when expressing disagreement or
dissatisfaction; you speak your mind in the right frame of mind.
             ■ Deal with aggressive people and in conflict situations without
               drama, anger, or argument.
             ■ Cause others to be better communicators.

           Listen Quick and Long

The best way to influence others is with your ears. If you listen in
a way that causes people to feel heard, you’ll hear things right the first
time, maintain the self-esteem of others, build better relationships, see
