                         Calculate the slope of the line in Fig. 1.17.

                         SOLUTION
                           We use the points R = (−2, 10) and T = (1, −5) to calculate the slope of
                         this line:
                                                   10 − (−5)
                                              m =            =−5.
                                                    (−2) − 1
