oxygen of the air reacts with the hydrocarbon feedstock in combustion and
helps to elevate the temperature of the reformer. Otherwise nitrogen can be
added from liquefaction of air. In either case a hydrogen-nitrogen mixture
is furnished for ammonia manufacture.
