                                CALCIUM ACETATE

Calcium acetate is manufactured by the reaction of calcium carbonate or
                    calcium hydroxide with acetic acid.
                               Ca(OH) + CH CO H → Ca(OCOCH ) + 2H O
                                      2 3 2 3 2 2
Calcium acetate was formerly used to manufacture acetone by thermal
                    decomposition:

                                Ca(OCOCH ) → (CH ) C=O + CaO + CO
                                           3 2 3 2 2
but now it is employed largely in the dyeing of textiles.

                      See Acetone.
