Start That Values-Based Goal or
Project Now!
Your values shape your future, and many of us defer living our
values and, therefore, our future. In truth, one of the best ways
to attract the perfect career is to start doing all the things you’ve
imagined you’d do when you had more time or more money.
(Look back to the “If Money Were No Object” exercise in Step 3.)
It helps to start with a few items from your list of things you’d
do if money were no object. My client Melissa Todd said that on
her list of things she’d do if she had a million dollars was “Live in
Napa and taste wines.” She didn’t have a million, but then it also
didn’t cost a million to rent a place for a month and go to one win-
ery after another! Another client always wanted to own a sailboat,
and I suggested that he simply rent one and go sailing for a day as
