Have a Bit of Fun
Let’s imagine that there are two service providers bidding for one
job. The two are equally qualified. One of them is regularly doing
something that he or she loves to do—whether that is waterskiing,
kite boarding, ballroom dancing, knitting, or playing basketball.
The other has cut out all such fun activities because there is a reces-
sion; being unemployed, this candidate has chosen to save as much
money as possible and use all available free time to hunt for a new
business. Which candidate will get the contract? The one having
all the fun. I know this doesn’t sound fair, but we can’t help but be
more attracted to the people who are out there enjoying life. They
come across as being more enjoyable to be around, more relaxed,
more energetic, and more fun than others. Who wouldn’t want
to work with someone who displays these qualities? If you own a
