by Henri ette Anne Klauser, in which she documents with one com-
pelling story after another the powerful impact of simply writing
down what you want. There is tremendous power in taking hold
of an ephemeral thought and writing it down. It is the first step in
making the transition to what you really
              want—bringing your wishes, hopes, and
dreams out of the world of fancy and Every man has one
into the world of reality. The moment thing he can do better
your thoughts are written down, they than anyone else and
take on a life of their own. No longer usually that is reading
something inside you, your thoughts his own handwriting.
now exist in the physical realm. You
can read them, see them, and touch the —G. NORMAN COLLIE
              paper containing your written words.
A brilliant thought may come as a
sudden insight and be gone in an instant, but if you take a moment
to write it down, it will be captured, not lost. Profound insights
may come in a flash when you are taking a shower, just as you are
going to bed at night, or while you’re commuting to work. Get in
the habit of keeping a pen and pad by your bed, as well as in your
purse or briefcase or in your car, so that when you have an intrigu-
ing idea, you can note it. Some of my clients prefer to carry a small
recording device instead and record their thoughts as they occur
to them. Whatever works best for you.
In addition to jotting down good ideas, you can use the power
of writing things down to achieve specific goals or wishes. It works
best to focus on one major goal or dream at a time. This keeps
you from diluting your energy by working on too many goals or
projects at a clip. Once you’ve decided which has priority, write it
down fifteen times a day until it comes true. Here’s how to do it:
Write your specific goal or objective in the present tense, and start
your sentence with “I am [fill in the blank].” So, instead of writing,
              “I will be earning $150,000 on September 22, 2010,” write, “I am
earning $150,000 a year as a [fill in the blank].” If you are not get-
ting what you want, it may be that it isn’t in your best interest or in
the best interest of all concerned. For example, it would not be wise
