22 COACH YOURSELF TO A NEW CAREER

more by focusing on and mastering your natural strengths
than you ever will by working on your weaknesses.

              ATTRACTION
0–5 pts. You are working much harder than need be to achieve the
success you want. Life doesn’t have to be so difficult. Stop
struggling, and start attracting the people, love, and oppor-
tunities you most desire. Attracting what you want starts
with identifying your unfulfilled personal requirements.
Once you get this aspect sorted out, you’ll be amazed
at how much easier life becomes. You will attract better
people and opportunities in your personal and professional
                        lives.
6–10 pts. Congratulations! You have stopped struggling and are natu-
rally attracting the people and opportunities you want. The
key to staying in this effortless flow is having gratitude for
the people around you. Say thanks at least five times a day
with a note or phone call.

              HAPPINESS AND JOY
0–5 pts. You may be too busy and might have lost touch with the
simple things that give you pleasure and joy. Start by add-
ing ten daily pleasures to your life (a hot bubble bath, a
picnic lunch in the local park, a brisk walk with the dog).
Consider what activities make you happy. If you aren’t doing
them on a regular basis, it is no surprise that happiness
                        eludes you.
6–10 pts. Well done! You have slowed down enough to savor the
richness and joy of daily life. You are wise enough to know
that it is a joy to be sad when you are sad and it is a joy to
be angry when you are angry. The present is always perfect
                        even when it isn’t.

Congratulations! Now that you’ve completed the Perfect the Present Quiz,
you’ve probably discovered a few areas that need attention. Ideally, aim
to get 1–3 new points on this quiz each week. Don’t worry, you can do
this while working on the steps outlined to reinvent your career as well.
