STEP 1: PERFECT THE PRESENT 23

              Handle Any Problems with Your

              Manager and Colleagues

The next part of perfecting your present situation is addressing
problems and issues with your current manager or colleagues.
This is an extremely important part of finding the perfect career.
Sometimes my clients want to quit a job because they don’t like
their particular boss or colleagues. If this is the case for you, then
I’ve got bad news: if you don’t learn to manage the situation you
are currently in, you are likely to end up in the exact same situ-
ation at your new job. Life is a demanding instructor, and if you
don’t learn how to handle something,
you don’t get to pass Go and collect
your $200. You may have a new boss or Everything that

micromanages you, and you can’t stand
it, so you resist. This resistance usually —CARL JUNG
shows up in the workplace as passive-
aggressive behavior. You don’t tell your
boss that you won’t do that report, but then you turn it in a day or
two late. This tactic isn’t going to win you any brownie points.
Let’s try a more productive strategy. Make a list of all the peo-
ple at work with whom you have issues or problems right now
(micromanaging or controlling boss, manager who takes all the
              credit, back-stabbing colleague, etc.):
