The MRP list in the third column of Figure 4-18 shows purchase orders (POItem),
planned orders (PldOrd), and dependent requirements (DepReq). Dependent requirements
represent the demand for oats created by the planned orders for snack bars—the demand
for oats depends on the production plans for snack bars. The materials requirements
planning process creates planned orders to meet these dependent requirements. The
planned orders are recommendations by the system to create orders (in this case,
purchase orders) for oats.
