CONSTRUCTION SAFETY CODES, STANDARDS, AND REGULATIONS 3.29

Removal of walls, masonry sections, chimneys, and materials through floor openings is
given. Safety requirements during manual removal of floors, removal of walls and floors,
and materials with equipment are provided. Storage of waste material and debris is dis-
cussed. Provisions of removal of steel construction, mechanical demolition, and selective
             demolition by explosives are given.

Subpart U: Blasting and the Use of Explosives

Safety requirements of blasting and the use of explosives are provided. Minimum qualifi-
cations for blasters are given. Provision for surface transportation of explosives including
underground transportation is stated. Requirements of storage of explosives and blasting
agents, loading of explosives of blasting agents, initiation of explosive charges, and use of
safety fuse and detonating cord are given. Additional provisions for firing the blast and
inspection following blasting, misfires, and underwater blasting are given. Blasting in
excavations under compressed air is also discussed.

Subpart V: Power Transmission and Distribution

1926.950. Safety provisions during construction of electric transmission and distribution
lines are stated. Specific provisions are given for initial inspections, tests or determinations,
clearances, deenergizing lines and equipment, emergency procedures and first aid, night
work, work near and over water, sanitation facilities, hydraulic fluids, etc.
1926.951. This section deals with protective equipment, personal climbing equipment,
ladders, live-line tools, measuring tapes or measuring ropes, and hand tools.
1926.952. Safety requirements of mechanical equipment including aerial lifts, derrick
trucks, cranes, and other lifting equipment are addressed.
1926.953. Provisions are made for unloading, pole hauling, storage, tag line, oil-filled
equipment, framing, and attaching the load.
1926.954. Safety requirements for grounding for protection of employees are given.
Specific instructions for new construction, communication conductors, means of attaching
grounds, testing without grounds, grounding electrodes, grounding to tower, ground lead,
             etc., are given.
1926.955. Safety provisions when working near overhead lines are enumerated. Specific
requirements for working near metal tower construction, stringing or removing deenergized
conductors, stringing adjacent to energized lines, live-line bare-hand work, etc., are provided.
1926.956. This subsection deals with underground lines. Guarding and ventilating street
openings used for access to underground lines or equipment, working in manholes, trench-
             ing, and excavating are discussed.

1926.957. Provisions for working near energized equipment facilities are given.
Requirements for deenergized equipment or lines, barricades and barriers, control panels,
