Guidelines for Project Portfolio Management
The objective of the guidelines for project portfolio management is to further develop
the organizational maturity of the project-oriented company. The business processes of
project portfolio management and the roles and methods used for project portfolio
management are described in the guidelines for project portfolio management.
Business processes of project portfolio management are the assignment of a project
or of a program, project portfolio coordination, and the networking of projects. Roles
of project portfolio management are investment proposal teams, the project portfolio
group, the project management office, and expert pools. Essential methods used for
project portfolio management are the investment portfolio score card, the business
case analysis, the project definition, the project portfolio database, and the project
portfolio reports. An example of the table of contents of guidelines for project portfo-
lio management is given in Table 18.8.
Standard Project Plans
Standard project plans can be developed for performing repetitive projects, such as offer-
development projects, contracting projects, product-development projects, event organiza-
