Certification can be a double-edged sword, however. Although many organizations will
pursue greening just for the sake of earning that certification—and that’s way better than
not pursuing it at all—many organizations will also just do the minimum and stop. It’s
important to not only achieve the certification, but keep going.
Ideally, to maintain the certification, a metric will be in place that requires certified
datacenters to continually improve.
Helpful Organizations
Going green can be daunting, but you’re not in it alone. You can find help from peers as
well as organizations, worldwide. Table 14-1 lists just some of the organizations out there
that can help you achieve your green goals.

Design for the Link 14-5 Part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Design
