Recommended applications: additives for warm mixed asphalts. High workability of the asphalt
mix, excellent antistripping effect, flexible to all techniques and asphalt mixes, effective at very
low dosage. adhesion promoter, additives for warm mixed asphalts. Very good workability of the
asphalt mix
Processing methods: can be produced and paved at temperatures 40°C cooler than standard hot
mixes
Typical dose: 5-10 wt%; 0.3-0.5 wt%
Copolymers can be tailored to the chemical structure of adhering polymers, because
they can have segments compatible with each surface which has to be adhered to each
13
other. This principle is commonly used in polymers blends in which block copolymers
having proper chemical structure are compatible with component polymers of the blend. 13
Dendritic polymers form another important
group utilized in a coupling technology. 13
They are hyperbranched polymers having a
high density of functional groups able to
interact or react with other components of
13
the system.
Polyolefins have low free surface
energy that prevents good wettability of
adhesives or paint emulsions to their sur-
14
face. Blended with thermoplastic poly-
urethanes, they form surface more
14
susceptible to adhere to paint. With 25-

demonstrates the development of fibrils
during paint layer delamination, indicating the formation of continuous PU domains at the
14
interface due to PU inter-diffusion.
Polyallyamine was used as an adhesion promoter between silica and SU8 (photosen-
15
sitive lithographic polymer). Polyallylamine spontaneously adsorbs onto silica surfaces,
as a simple, easy-to-apply, and reactive adhesion promoter which has amino groups reac-
15
tive with epoxy groups of SU8.
Linear polyglycidol was used as an adhesion promoter in biomedical applications.16
The phosphonic acid residues, present in the polymer, assure strong binding to stainless
steel wires.
