2. Determine whether the dose is dangerous
Table 3 lists the exposure tolerance of the human body. This listing shows
that a dose of 1 rem/day is believed to cause debilitation within 3 to 6 months
and death within 3 to 6 years. Since the daily dose to which this worker is
exposed—0.825 rem—is close to the 1.0-rem danger level, the dose is
excessive and dangerous.
