performance of 100. From the intersection with the appropriate curve, project
horizontally to the left-hand scale of Fig. 6. Next project upward (2) parallel
to the index scale. Then project vertically downward (3) from the net electric
power output, 500 mW, on the top scale. From the intersection between lines
2 and 3, draw line 4 horizontally to the left-hand scale. At the intersection,
read the reactor power as 2250 thermal mW.
The type of cycle is determined by the location of the point of intersection
between lines 2 and 3. If lines 2 and 3 intersect to the right of the full back-
pressure (FBP) line, the cycle used is the extraction or multishaft type. When
