2. Crush to 4.75 mm and screen out the <0.5 mm fraction
3. Cut out a representative sample of the raw coal and undertake:

5. Ultimate analysis (H, N, C, & O) on a moisture free basis
6. Analyze for inorganic and organic forms of S and Cl
7. Calorific value on a moisture free basis
