174 It’s Not a Glass Ceiling, It’s a Sticky Floor
I’ve covered a lot of important ideas here about communication
and using good communication skills to demonstrate your individu-
ality and leadership. No matter how confident or competent we are,
being a good communicator gives us a leg up for successfully dealing
with the variety of challenges and situations encountered every day.
Know that great leadership starts with the power of connection with
others. We are naturally great collaborators and connectors. So cap-
italize on this strength. Be strategic—there is no one way to commu-
nicate. Be open and demonstrate the full spectrum of skills, styles,
and techniques that will allow you to achieve the result or outcome
you are looking for.
You have a voice that needs to be heard. If not, we all miss out.
