to “hear” both the content and feelings of what is being
said and to convey alignment in your own messages
• Become an active listener to show you are truly trying to
understand another person
• Plan your message by determining the results you want to
achieve and the key points you need to make
• Keep it simple and stay on your message
• Leverage the use of questions
• Adapt your style to your audience
• Pay attention to your speaking habits
• Speak up! Believe that you deserve to be heard
• Decide if you want to be direct (forthright) or indirect
(subtle)
• Be a good facilitator
