• Do you ask for what you want rather than for what you
think you can get?
• Consider What Stops You From Asking
• You feel it’s too risky because you don’t know what the
answer will be
• You don’t want to ask for personal favors
• You are so grateful for what you have that you don’t think
you can ask for more
• You fear rejections—the dreaded “no”
• You make assumptions that imply you shouldn’t ask
• You think others should know what you want without
having to ask for it
• Try This
• Know you are worth it—take stock in yourself
• Research your request and determine your value equation
• Be curious—don’t jump to conclusions
• Build your strategy for asking—most desired outcome,
goal, response to anything less than your goal, etc.
• Have a back-up plan
• Use the “what if” in response to anything less than
your goal
• Be patient and flexible
• Find your comfort zone—direct or indirect
• Don’t expect others to know what you want
• Just do it—ask for what you want!
