signal. Components spaced one octave can be boosted 6 dB at a peak or essentially eliminated at a
null, or can be given values between these extremes. A linear frequency scale is used.
The comb filters illustrated in Figs. 10-3 to 10-5 are plotted to a linear frequency scale. In this
form, the comb appearance and visualization of the delayed effects are most graphic. A logarithmic-
frequency scale, however, is more common in the electronics and audio industry, and is more
representative of what we hear. A comb filter resulting from a delay of 1 msec plotted to a
logarithmic frequency scale is shown in Fig. 10-6.
