Third-Order Aberration Theory and Calculation 119

        ■ Plot L is a across-section drawing of the lens, including marginal
           axial and principal rays.
        ■ The box M contains the half field angle, the numerical aperture, the
           focal length, and the wavelengths.

The prescription for this lens is as follows:

Table 6.1 is the paraxial raytrace data for each surface of the lens,
including the object and image surfaces and the aperture stop (#5).
The column headed PY is the axial ray height (y) at the surface, PU is
the ray slope after passing through the surface (u′), and PI is the
paraxial angle of incidence (i) at the surface. Columns PYC, PUC, and
PIC are the corresponding data for the principal ray.
Table 6.2 lists the paraxial chromatic surface contributions and
their sums. Column PAC is the paraxial transverse axial (primary)
chromatic (F-C), and SAC is the transverse secondary spectrum (F-d).
Column PLC and SLC are the corresponding values for the lateral
        chromatic.
Table 6.3 gives the third-order (Seidel) aberration surface contri-
butions. Column SA3 is the transverse third-order spherical aberra-
tion, CMA3 is the sagittal coma (1/3 of tangential coma), AST3 is the
