282 New Trends in Eco-efficient and Recycled Concrete
Figure 10.3 Impact category indicators of NAC and RAC mixes (XC1 exposure class).
NAC, natural aggregate concrete; RAC, recycled aggregate concrete.
Figure 10.4 Influence of the RCA quality on impact category indicators (XC1 exposure
class). RCA, recycled concrete aggregate.
10.5.2 Durability
Results of 1_XC3_A and 2_XC3_A case studies are jointly presented in Fig. 10.5.
Trends are similar as for the XC1; more severe environmental conditions do not
cause a significant change in the relative impacts of NAC and RAC mixes. It
should be kept in mind that only the slab bottom cover was increased for XC3,
while top cover was determined from bond and fire-resistance conditions and kept
the same (i.e., same reinforcement bar diameter in all cases).
When only RAC2 mixes are compared, the influence of different XC on impact
category indicators is presented in Fig. 10.6. For XC3, class indicators are 6% 7%
higher compared to indicators for XC1.
