6.5.4 High-Voltage DC Protection System
The protection system is divided into two parts; one for the DC components
and the other for AC components:
1. DC protection system:
a. Converter protection.
b. Pole protection.
c. DC switchyard protection.
These functions can be performed by the control system of the DC
link.
2. AC protection systems:
a. Converter transformer AC protections.
b. AC bus protections.
c. AC filter and reactor protections that includes mechanical protections
for the reactor.
