advantage of this configuration is that if one pole is faulty the other pole will
operate with half load transfer (see Fig. 6.17).
6.5.2.3 Homopolar links
Homopolar links have two conductors with the same negative polarity. The
return path is through the ground (see Fig. 6.18).
6.5.3 DC Transmission Components
This system consists of converter transformers at the ends, filter, and a DC
line as shown in Fig. 6.19.
In more detail the system consists of:
1. A converter that converts AC to DC or DC to AC and consists of valves
connected in a 6-pulse or 12-pulse arrangement and transformers.
