of company size. Hourly employees, regardless of company size, are
        the least engaged employees.

Theme C: Trust in the Honesty and Integrity of Senior Leaders
Nothing quite undermines employees’ willingness to give their best
effort each day more than the loss of trust that leaders are dealing
        honestly and in good faith.

        Negative Comments
Here are some of the comments that sadly attest to the undermining
        of trust:

: “Although the CIO says he has no plans for outsourcing, there have
been at least two meetings with large international outsourcing
              companies.”
: “Executive leadership has changed, is constantly changing, and
goals are not being met, yet company spins things to make it sound
like everything is going according to plan.”
: “There’s an expression that ‘the fish rots from the head down.’ I
never lent much credibility to that statement until I worked at
my employer for over two years. I’ve seen my managers lie to their
employees about their loss of benefits and other issues.”
: “Corporate core values are ignored. I feel the company is just pay-
ing lip service to these statements. As an individual, I am con-
stantly blocked by management in doing something that would be
client focused. Excellence and quality are consistently downplayed
for the sake of metrics—the more calls handled more quickly, the
better, regardless of the outcome for the client.”

        Positive Comments
On the other hand, organizations whose leaders work to build trust
reap the benefit of more committed and enthusiastic workers, as these
        comments show:
