University. She is author of The Memory of Trade: Modernity’s Entanglements
on an Eastern Indonesian Island; editor of Border Fetishisms: Material Objects in
Unstable Spaces; and co-editor of Handbook of Material Culture.
Jeremy Stolow is Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and Sociology
at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. His area of research concerns rela-
tionships between religious authority, media technologies, and popular culture
in transnational perspective.
