s stated in the preceding chapter, the key relationship in
Aretention is the relationship between the employee and his
or her manager. In this chapter, we’ll continue examining that
relationship in terms of the aspects that most positively pro-
mote retention.
The Manager as Company Representative
In the last chapter, we saw that the manager must act as a
buffer between senior managers (and other influencers) and the
employees. The manager must also act as a representative of
the company to the employees.
