Rotating Machinery: Practical Solutions
The above table is provided for reference only. Always con-
sult the manufacturer ’s recommended torque specifications if
available. When tightening fasteners, it is recommended that the
final torque value is reached in three stages—that is, first torque to
33%, then 66%, and then the final value. In addition, assure that
a proper tightening pattern is used.

Some newer machines may have metric bolts and the torque
specifications may be given in Newton-Meters. To convert New-
ton-Meters into foot-pounds of torque:
1 Meter = 3.28333 Feet
1 Newton = .225 Pounds
1 Foot x 1 Pound
