A Few Words about Rejection and Success
Like it or not, rejection is part of the interview process. Accept
the fact that you will be rejected—probably more than once—
and embrace each interview as an opportunity to learn more
about yourself, the benefits you have to offer, and how to pre-
sent them in a way that is meaningful to the interviewer.
Rejection is just a step on your road to success.
A good portion of this chapter has been devoted to self-
evaluation after the interview. Don’t skip this step, even if
things seemed to go well. If you have been working with a
recruiter or a headhunter, get in touch after a rejection and ask
for suggestions about how you can improve your interview per-
formance. Recruiters and headhunters often get candid feed-
back from a hiring company that could be a great help to you.
