Scores from this rating can be shown on a radar chart to display a particular
area’s performance in the 5S rating. An example radar chart for 5S drawn using
Excel’s chart wizard is shown in Figure F.13. The center point designates a score
of 0, and a pentagon ring is shown for scores of 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 (the maximum
score in this example). This particular workstation achieved a rating of sort
1.50, straighten 2.00, shine 1.75, standardize 3.00, and sustain 2.00.
Interpretation
These scores are useful for tracking improvement over time and identifying
areas of opportunity. Higher scores demonstrate better implementation of the
5S principles.
