■ The diaphragms are horizontally split and keyed, the key serving
principally as a seal but also as an axial locating device for upper
and lower halves (Fig. 2.17). Note also the locating dowel. Locating
dowels are mounted at the diaphragm split to ensure symmetry of
the packing bore.
■ The lower half of the diaphragm is secured to the casing after shim-
ming by use of set screws (Fig. 2.18).
