            power requirement is, nevertheless, considerably greater than that needed by the micro-wave torch,
            which accounts to some extent for the latter's popularity.

            The spectrometer arrangement is very similar to that used with a microwave induced spectrometer and
            is shown in Figure 6.14. Figure 6.14 depicts the emission spectrometer fitted with the older type of
            diffraction grating optical system. Most modern ICP atomic emission spectrometers utilize a diode
            array sensor that is far more compact but, depending on the number of diodes, may have somewhat less
            optical resolution. Virtually any type of well-designed gas chromatograph can be fitted to the
            spectrometer, using an appropriately heated transfer line
