1863. When the ADAV merged with the Sozialdemokratische Arbeiterpartei
(SDAP) or Social Democratic Workers’ Party, in Gotha on 27 May 1875, the
Sozialistische Arbeiterpartei Deutschlands (SAP) or Socialist Workers’ Party of
Germany which was renamed as Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD) or
Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1890, emerged.
