13. Install the outboard bearing isolator and ensure that the drain slot
is located at the bottom (or 6 o'clock) position.
14. Install a new 'O' ring on the outside of the bearing cap and coat
the O.D. with oil.
15. Coat the internal surfaces of the bearing housing with oil and
install the shaft assembly into the housing.
16. Once again, check to ensure that the shaft is free to turn.
17. Tighten the bolt fasteners through the bearing cap to the housing
and hand tighten.
18. Install the jacking bolts with locldng nuts and hand tighten.
12.8.1 Check shaft condition
Support the bearing housing assembly in the horizontal position and
check the following conditions.
Confirm that the shaft end play falls within the limitations
~
established for the particular size of pump and type of bearing.
With the impeller threaded onto the shaft, confirm that the shaft
.
run-out, when the shaft is rotated through 360 ~ , is no more than
a total indicator reading of 0.002 inches.
By rotating the shaft so that indicator rides along the housing face
.
fit throughout the 360 ~ , ensure that the total indicator reading is
no more than 0.001 inches.
