should be carried out in a clean and dust-free room. New bearings
should be kept in their original package until just before installation.
         1. Clean the shaft and the mounting surfaces of the beating housing
             and cap.
         2. Heat the Thrust bearing in an induction heater or oil bath to the
required temperature. This will be approximately 150~ above
the shaft temperature, but should be no higher than 250~
         3. Wearing clean protective gloves, position the bearing onto the
              shaft against the shoulder.
When installing a new bearing into a pump, it is extremely
important that the pump original equipment manufacturer's
bearing selection be duplicated during repair and overhaul. While
numerical suffixes can be cross-referenced from one beating
manufacturer to another, the alphabetical prefixes and suffixes are
frequently different, and extreme caution is encouraged.
Duplication of the arrangement of duplex bearings is also
important although most pump manufacturers use the back-to-
back configuration. In the event that a single shield is provided,
this should be on the side towards the impeller.
         4. Position the lockwashcr on the shaft with the tang in the shaft
              keyway.
         5. Thread the locknut onto the shaft and tighten until snug. Bend
any tang of the lockwasher into a slot of the locknut.
         6. Position the thrust bearing retaining ring over the shaft with the
              flat side facing the bearing.
         7. Heat the Radial bearing in an induction heater or oil bath to the
required temperature. This will be approximately 150~ above
the shaft temperature, but should be no higher than 250~
         8. Wearing clean protective gloves, position the bearing onto the
             shaft against the shoulder.
         9. Coat the outside of the thrust bearing and bearing cap with oil
and install the bearing cap onto the shaft/bearing assembly.
        10. Insert the retaining ring into the groove in the bearing cap bore,
while ensuring that the space between the ends of the retaining
ring is located in the oil return groove so as not to obstruct the
             oil flow.
        11. Check to ensure that the shaft is free to turn.
        12. Ensure the keyway is free of burrs. Cover it with tape to protect
the 'O' rings on the bearing isolator.
