272 The Ultimate Palm Robot
What’s on the CD
We’ve covered an awful lot of software in this book. To make it all easier to
handle, we’ve loaded it all onto the CD-ROM that comes with this book. That
way, you don’t need to spend hours and hours online, going to different Web
sites, and using your precious online time to download everything that you
need.
You’ll find that the CD-ROM is organized into three main folders:
❏ Palm Robot Reader This folder has versions of the Palm Robot
Programmer application (from Chapter 6) for a variety of
operating environments, including Windows, Mac, and Linux.
❏ Other Applications Here, you’ll find all the utilities and other
applications we wrote about in the book. Each program has its
own folder, making it all easy to find.
❏ Licenses We’ve rounded up all of the software licenses and
stored them in one place. Please be sure to read these before using
any program contained on the CD.
How to Use the CD
Using the CD is pretty straightforward. If you want to install an application like
the Palm Robot Programmer, do this:
1. Insert the disc in your CD-ROM drive. Depending upon your
operating system, the disc will automatically open on your desktop
or you’ll need to open it yourself.
2. Locate the folder you want to open and double-click on it. If you
want to install the Palm Robot Programmer, double-click that folder
(Mac users, of course, only need to single-click).
3. Now locate the folder for your operating system and double-click.
4. Double-click the Install icon for the Palm Robot Programmer and
follow the onscreen instructions.
That’s the basic procedure for installing many of the applications on the
CD-ROM. Note that for some apps in the Other Applications folder, there’s
only one version provided—in most cases, for the Palm OS.
