              eaders often get so busy analyzing, problem solving,
              questioning, coordinating, deciding, and delegating
        Lthat they fail to communicate what’s going on to
        those standing on the sidelines. They tell too little too late.
        And in the absence of information, people get their facts
        from whatever faucet is leaking—whether accurate or not.
           As a leader, your silence doesn’t mean the conversation
        stops; it just means you have no input.
           Pop quiz here:

             In the first 24, 48, or 72 hours after the terrorist at-
             tack on 9/11/2001, where did you spend all of your
             waking hours? (In front of the TV?)
             Where was your attention during hurricanes Katrina
             and Rita? (Listening to TV or radio or reading Inter-
             net updates?)

             How frequently do you read or listen to the details of
             a scandal, death, or murder case that has nothing to
