        FIELD OFFICES AND SHANTIES



                            As part of the site logistics planning, it is important to identify the location for the
                            CM/GC field office, and those of the subcontractors. See Exhibit 6-21 for the field
                            office checklist. Initially during the demolition and then the excavation and foundation
                            phase of the project, construction field offices are often housed in self-contained trail-
                            ers that can be rented. The trailers can be located on the site, if open space is available.
                            Often they are located adjacent to the site (see Exhibit 6-22 and Exhibit 6-23), or on top
                            of the sidewalk bridge surrounding the construction site. If the trailers are to be located
                            on top of the sidewalk bridge, then a heavy load bridge (300lbs/sq.ft.) to allow for the
                            installation of the trailers is required.

                            The field offices and shanties are often then incorporated within the space inside the con-
                            struction of the building, once the building structure is in place. Locations that should be
                            considered are: (1) first floor retail space, (2) garage parking area, (3) below grade stor-
                            age space, and (4) large contiguous space within the lower floors of the building. The
