floors to arrive at the work area, shanty, and toilets. Temporary toilets are usually
installed out in the open floor area outside of the building core, built out of temporary
fire retardant wood construction, elevated off the floor to allow for drainage. Water for
construction purposes is usually provided by a temporary water riser and controlled with
a valve spigot on each floor, which will allow water to flow into a 55-gallon drum, with

a drainpipe hooked up approximately / of the height of the drum. These water risers

need to be insulated and heat traced to prevent them from freezing during the winter.
Temporary Electrical Power
Temporary electrical power needs to be provided and distributed throughout the con-

1. Temporary light and power stringers that are usually run on a grid of one light and
outlet every 400 sq. ft (approximately one square column bay)
2. Personnel and material hoists
