“Look, Cam, Joni just wants something reasonable to tell Mateo. If we tell
her these new 3D-printed quadcopters can’t fly, which they probably won’t, Mateo
will cancel this project and we can get back to work … flying high-quality drones
manufactured by those who know what they’re doing!”
“Felix, you’re driving me nuts. We discussed this ad nauseam last week. Let’s
make some progress. Why don’t some of you other guys help me? Alexis, what do you
                                            think?”
“Felix, Cam is right,” Alexis, Falcon Security’s head of sales, chimes in. “We did
have a long discussion on how to go about this—and we did agree to focus first on
building a functional drone that might reduce our costs. This could save us a lot of
money and give us a more customizable drone platform.”
“Well, Alexis, I think it’s a mistake. Why didn’t anyone tell me? I put a lot of time
looking into flight performance of these 3D-printed drones.”
“Did you read the email?” Alexis asks tentatively.
                                                         “What email?”
“The meeting summary email that I send out each week,” Alexis says
                                                       with a sigh.
“I got the email, but I couldn’t download the attachment. Something
weird about a virus checker couldn’t access a gizmo or something like that …”
                                             Felix trails off.
Cam can’t stand that excuse. “Here, Felix, take a look at mine. I’ll underline the
part where we concluded that we’d focus on building the prototype first so you can be
“I got the email, sure to see it.”
“Cam, there’s no reason to get snippy about this. I thought I had a good idea,”
but I couldn’t Felix says, sounding hurt.
download the “OK, so we’re agreed—again this week—that we’re going to make the prototype
attachment.” drone using 3D-printed parts based off the free plans. Now, we’ve wasted enough
Image source: rommma/Fotolia time covering old ground. Let’s get some new thinking on how we’re going to do that.”
Felix slumps back into his chair and looks down at his cell phone.
“Oh, no, I missed a call from Mapplethorpe. Ahhhh.”
“Felix, what are you talking about?” asks Cam.
