COMPONENT 10: CREATING QUANTIFIABLE GOALS This involves
developing three to five measurable goals for each strategy that
represent milestone markers; ensuring that there are enough goals
for each strategy to enable its success; effectively communicating
goals and measures to all employees and enlisting their support;
holding people accountable for achieving the goals for which they
are responsible; and leveraging goals and measures so that a sin-
gle goal can support more than one strategy.

COMPONENT 11: DESIGNING SUCCESSFUL TACTICS This involves
developing three to five specific actions and activities for accom-
plishing each goal; taking thoughtful risks and developing inno-
vative tactics, then monitoring results; designating sufficient
resources and the appropriate people for each tactic; assuring that
those responsible for executing a tactic understand, commit to,
and are held accountable for achieving the goal and strategy for
which that tactic is designed; soliciting and utilizing feedback on
the progress and success of each tactic; leveraging tactics so that a
single tactic can support more than one goal; and making tactical
adjustments on a short-term basis, identifying new tactics and
implementing them as needed.
