        COMPONENT 8: DEFINING A VIABLE MISSION This involves clearly
        identifying the business you are in for the medium term; making
        sure the mission is aligned with the overall vision; accurately iden-
        tifying your customers and their requirements; providing a unique,
        value-added contribution to both the customer and the business;
        understanding your competitors and potential collaborators and

        how the different strategies support one another so that all of them
        can be prioritized, sequenced, and leveraged; analyzing potential
        conflicts between and among strategies, and either resolving these
        or accepting the ambiguity; leading from these strategies and mak-
        ing your decisions based on them; and revisiting the strategies at
        regular intervals to evaluate their success and to adjust goals or
        tactics as needed.
