3.7 CONCLUSIONS
A finite element simulation methodology for colonic stents has been presented. Every step in the design and implan-
tation process can be simulated (shaping process, catheter introduction, releasing at the position, and the effect of peri-
staltic waves) in an accurate way. These aspects present high mechanical requirement and hence are essential in colonic
stent design.
