POLITICS IN THE AGE OF MEDIATION
Further reading
For essays on the media’s contribution to democratic processes see
Chambers and Costains, eds, Deliberation, Democracy and the Media
(2001). Bennett and Entman’s edited collection on Mediated Politics
(2001) addresses many of the debates outlined in this chapter. John
Street’s Mass Media, Politics and Democracy (2001) provides a
student-friendly overview of the issues. Bob Franklin’s Packaging
Politics (2004) is an articulation of the critical perspective on political
communication. Aeron Davis’ Political Communication and Social
Theory presents a composite approach to the relationship between
politics, media and democracy in a number of societies (2010). Eric
Louw’s The Media and Political Process (2010) also addresses this
theme.
